I’m happy to announce History On/Off — Version 2.0, a long overdue update that now makes the extension compatible with the “Manifest 3” Chrome requirements. This way it will continue to be listed on the Chrome store and to work in your browser.
What’s New in Version 2.0
1. Manifest V3 Upgrade
I’ve finally migrated from the old Manifest V2 to the latest Manifest V3. This ensures ongoing compliance with Chrome’s newest extensions platform, and so this is improving security and performance.
2. Better Accessibility
- I have added default shortcut for the on/off button: Ctrl+Shift+Y for Windows/Linux and Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac
3. Rewritten Code
- Most of the extension was rewritten almost from scratch. It should work better now and uses less system resources. Few small UI bugs should be fixed also
I made this extension many years ago as a humble attempt to help people with their privacy. I, for sure, don’t like others to be able to watch into my browser history. But hiding history alone wouldn’t save you from all threats. That’s why I use another plugins. And the one below is my favourite — I found it, tested it and it is now the default security plugin on all my browsers.
